About The Position

Position Details: School Nurse Title: School Nurse Start Date: ASAP Onsite/Virtual: Onsite Working Hours: 7:30 - 3:30 weekly, from Monday to Friday Student Age Group: K-8 Responsibilities: School Nurse Provide nursing care to students as needed Oversee procedures to address special health needs or disabilities of students Perform screenings for eyesight, hearing, scoliosis, and obesity Support staff in response to student crises or health-related issues Plan and implement programs that proactively address student and staff health needs Document services provided Collect and distribute information about resources and services that will help students and their families maintain good health Track attendance information Coordinate health-related special education evaluations and services Participate in Pupil Assistance Committee (PAC) meetings as needed Participate in 504 plan meetings as needed Actively participate in the school community and support the school’s mission Qualifications: School Nurse Certification as a School Nurse or enrolled in a School Nurse certification program Bachelor’s Degree in a related field Experience providing health care to children in a school setting Strong organizational and interpersonal skills The ability to communicate clearly and empathically with children and adults Strong writing skills Knowledge of New Jersey School Nursing statutes, regulations, procedures, and practices Familiarity with the medical and psychological services available to students and families in our region

Requirements

  • Certification as a School Nurse or enrolled in a School Nurse certification program
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience providing health care to children in a school setting
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and empathically with children and adults
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of New Jersey School Nursing statutes, regulations, procedures, and practices
  • Familiarity with the medical and psychological services available to students and families in our region
