About The Position

Works collaboratively with staff, guardians and providers to coordinate and oversee the specialized needs of the individuals served in Laradon’s School to ensure efficient and prompt health care services are provided.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado State License for RN, in good/active condition.
  • Two or more years nursing experience.
  • Valid Colorado driving license, good driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Good customer service and people skills.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days; ability to complete training and perform physical management of students as necessary, including physical restraints; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison with cooperating medical facilities, hospitals, psychiatrists, physicians, families and other external entities in regard to the medical needs of those served. Work collaboratively with Medical Services Department.
  • Monitor medication and health issues of participants served in Laradon’s School, and consult with directors, program managers, teachers, staff regarding specific needs of the children as well as general medical issues.
  • Medical assessments and appropriate treatment/follow-up and coordination of care utilizing the nursing process, as needed.
  • Monitor and obtain medical documentation such as annual physicals/physician orders, etc. to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and Laradon policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the administration of medications, as needed.
  • Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for children served; monitor/obtain physician orders, annual physicals and other needed medical documentation; update as needed.
  • Develop, implement and train staff on medical protocols, health care plans, and review and revise as needed.
  • Transcription of MD orders/documents into EMR system.
  • Assist with teaching QMAP/QMAP Refresher.
  • Admissions/Discharges.
  • Responsible for annual hearing/vision screening in the Laradon School
  • Ensure effective communication between each department, family/guardians, individuals served, and physicians where required
  • Provide trainings for employees on health and medical related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative, team environment, employee must be physically present in the office to perform his/her job functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
