SUMMARY Provide nursing care to students in school setting.

Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Trained in Medication Management, CPR, and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

• Psychiatric experience with children/adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and medical response to students as needed.
• Observe students to detect behavior patterns and report observations to Administration.
• Examine student physical condition and take vital signs after a manual restraint or altercation.
• Dispense medications from dispensary and maintains records in accordance with specified procedures.
• Administer oral medications and hypodermic injections, following Physician's prescriptions and agency procedures.
• Conduct daily audit of medication administration records to verify compliance with established policies and procedures and licensure requirements.
• Responsible for staff compliance with agency behavior management practices, including manual restraint.
• Respond adequately to emergencies and potentially unsafe situations with students.
• Complete required documentation.
• Complete initial exams and admittance forms for new students.
• Contact student's relatives to inform them of changes in student's medical status.
• Periodic travel including transportation of student in personal or agency vehicle required.
• Teach Medication Management Course and Refresher to school staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
