About The Position
Lumpkin County Schools is seeking applicants for a School Nurse to support the health and well-being of our students for the 2026-2027 school year. The School Nurse will provide direct healthcare services, manage student health records, respond to medical emergencies, and promote a healthy school environment.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with children, families, and staff.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in pediatrics, public health, or school nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic healthcare to students.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policies/procedures.
- Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain accurate student health records and documentation.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) as required.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with emergency services when necessary.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student wellness.
- Promote health education and preventive care within the school community.
