About Your Role You have exceptional clinical expertise with specialized knowledge of childhood development, pediatric illnesses, and chronic condition management. You demonstrate agility and calm in acute or emergency situations, maintaining the highest levels of discretion and professionalism. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work diplomatically and with cultural competence across our diverse community of students, families, and staff. You exhibit a high degree of autonomy and reliability, showing the self-motivation to manage the health office and maintain compliance without constant supervision. Requirements

  • Required Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado and a CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) License with a School Nurse Endorsement.
  • Clinical Experience: 1-2+ years of clinical experience in pediatrics, emergency nursing, or school nursing.
  • Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Instructor Certification is required.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Google Suite.
  • Professionalism: Proven success in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Grant permission for a background check upon hire.
  • Meet physical demands to perform essential functions of the role.   • Training in Immunizations and Abusive Head Trauma is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Community Health Management & Clinical Care: Provide direct nursing care, including first aid, emergency response, and management of chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
  • Nurse Consultation & Delegation: Act as the designated Nurse Consultant, providing professional oversight, delegation, and training to unlicensed personnel for health procedures when off-site.
  • Medication & Allergy Management: Administer prescribed medications and ensure all emergency medications (EpiPens, inhalers) are accessible, unexpired, and compliant.
  • Health Administration & Compliance: Maintain student health profiles and illness logs in strict accordance with HIPAA/FERPA and state law.
  • Sanitation & Safety Protocols: Oversee CDC cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and ensure health office compliance with state licensing rules.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage families regarding their children’s health and collaborate with staff on health-related professional development, such as CPR training.
