The Office of School and District Improvement is hiring for a Grants Manager who will s erve as an unclassified employee pursuant to Section 124.11 (A) (9) O.R.C. and perform the following duties: The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is a diverse team of passionate, education-focused professionals responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality of education for each of Ohio’s 1.7 million students. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree (e.g., business administration, public administration, political science, education or related field); and 3 years of experience performing any combination of the following:
  • Managing contracts or grants in an educational setting
  • Facilitating or managing work groups across multiple department levels
  • Project management
  • Knowledge\: (1) Budgeting and Accounting; (2) Grants Management; (3) Administration and Management; (4) Agency Policies and Procedures; (5) Law and Government (e.g., ESSA Title IV Part B).
  • Skills\: (6) Database/Software Programs (e.g., Microsoft Office); (7) Monitoring; (8) Critical Thinking / Judgment and Decision Making; (9) Time/Financial/Resource Management; (10) Customer and Personal Service; (11) Project Management; (12) Research/Analysis; (13) Coordination.
  • Abilities\: (14) Problem Sensitivity/Problem Solving; (15) Communication (e.g., oral, written, active listening).

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates school improvement funding and processes, including but not limited to:
  • Supports schools and districts in developing and maintaining budgets for federal and state grants aligned with district improvement plans;
  • Manages annual grant life cycle calendar;
  • Create and continuously update and monitor the grant review spreadsheet, summer extension tracker and
  • Collaborate with the management analyst to compile data to identify grantee risk factors for grant monitoring;
  • Collaborate on grant monitoring through survey review and scoring, create monitoring agendas, send monitoring invitations, notification letters and attend monitoring sessions;
  • Provides regular and relevant technical assistance and support to districts and schools via email, phone calls, and meetings (virtual and in-person);
  • Evaluates implementation efforts of programs and recommends improvements:
  • Establishes data collection and reporting process for the grant awardees;
  • Analyzes data to provide improvement recommendations to internal and external entities;
  • Develops and implements policy related to school improvement grant funding;
  • Conducts trainings for district and school-based personnel related to policies, procedures, best practices, curriculum and data reporting;
  • Facilitates peer-to-peer network collaborative learning opportunities for school improvement grant recipients;
  • Collaborates with DEW offices engaged in collaborative monitoring (plan implementation and grant spending) process including, Federal Programs, and Community Schools.
  • Supports the Assistant Director of School Improvement and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) as they develop and implement an MTSS for the State of Ohio, and other School Improvement initiatives, such as the:
  • One Needs Assessment (ONA), and
  • Support Schools Tool
  • Collaborates with team members in the Office of School and District Improvement in activities related to School Improvement
  • Requires travel throughout State of Ohio and may require overnight stay. (Must be willing and able to secure a valid Driver’s License OR supply your own transportation.)
