About The Position

The School Director is the school's executive officer overseeing development and supervision of all school programs, business strategies, budget and academics. With a strong focus on customer relationships, this role is an ambassador for Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH) with the community and civic groups and ensures compliance with the requirements of federal, state and local agencies. SUMMARY: The School Director works with the Executive Director as a “second in command” to help oversee and support the success of the school through emphasis on business operations, fiscal and academic performance, aligned communication and cohesive culture. The role has shared accountability for specific identified areas including some or all of the following: processes; logistics; training; counseling; College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) accountability; and Career Readiness Education (CRE)/industry-based certifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field AND
  • Ten (10) years of related professional experience AND
  • Five (5) years of leadership OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, interpersonal relations, and communication skills.
  • Proven business experience and acumen.
  • Owner of a line of business or school budget.
  • Experience building a leadership team of top talent and creating an environment that supports active listening and willingness to share different viewpoints.
  • Successful creation of strategic partnerships that enable business growth.
  • MS 365; Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Ability to clear required background check.
  • Texas School Administrator Certificate preferred
  • Residency Requirements: Texas

Responsibilities

  • Improve processes across campus to ensure student accountability is met.
  • Oversee logistics to maintain operational efficiencies while ensuring that high instructional standards are achieved.
  • Supports Academic Administrators and Curriculum & Instruction Manager to implement academic best practices
  • Work closely with the Career Learning team to manage CCMR accountability to ensure all students are ready for post high school goals.
  • Responsible for supporting and overseeing CRE goals in alignment with the Career Learning team to improve student outcomes.
  • Works with Executive Director to oversee counseling department
  • Responsible for developing and implementing various trainings that improve employee knowledge and skill, including cross-training on all duties needed to ensure efficient operations.
  • Works with the Executive Director to develop a pipeline of school leaders and support succession planning.
  • Ensure consistent communication in school processes and procedures to support strong alignment across campuses and departments.
  • Work to support professional development needs that support the overall mission, vision, and values of the school.
  • Directly supervises 5-10 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
