About The Position

St. Joseph Catholic School in Bradenton, Florida is seeking a full-time
Custodian.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous work experience as a custodian, or janitor.
• An understanding of cleaning equipment and how to maintain them.
• Understanding safety protocols and disposal of hazardous waste items.
• Ability to lift approximately 50lbs.without assistance.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, climb continuously.
• Valid drivers license.
• Occasional Weekend hours will also be set in advance for specific events, as needed.
• Must pass a DOV assigned post offer physical exam.
• State of Florida law requires fingerprinting and clearance through the Florida DOE Background Screening Clearinghouse for all school-based positions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned areas of the school, ensuring that all rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas are clean and well-maintained.
• Set up for events and meetings.
• Secure all buildings on campus at the end of the day.
• Perform daily checks of the buildings and grounds to ensure trash/debris is picked up from common areas and grounds ensuring the area is presentable and always inviting.
• Setting out safety cones/markers for car lines, and assisting with student arrival and pick-up.
• Adheres to proper cleaning methods, storage, and proper care of equipment and supplies following local, state, and OSHA regulations.
• Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment, as appropriate.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Reports all accidents and/or potential hazards to the Maintenance Director immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible.
• Attends in-service training to develop and improve knowledge and skills of cleaning service work.
• Complies with and supports school regulations and policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Administration in accordance with school policies.
