About The Position

As our School Counselor, you'll play a crucial role in creating a positive, supportive environment where students thrive academically and personally. Working across our innovative K-8 schools, you'll provide essential counseling services, crisis intervention, and wellness programming that empowers students to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or related field
  • State certification or licensure as a School Counselor
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health
  • Knowledge of relevant laws regarding student privacy and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for connecting with diverse populations
  • Empathetic and compassionate demeanor with genuine interest in student well-being
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and intervention strategy development skills
  • Collaborative mindset with commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse racial/cultural populations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous school counseling experience preferred, especially in charter school settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide Comprehensive Student Support: Deliver individual and group counseling addressing academic, personal, and social concerns
  • Conduct assessments to identify student strengths, challenges, and barriers to success
  • Create personalized support plans that foster healthy development and emotional well-being
  • Assist in crisis intervention and emergency response for students facing challenging situations
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records ensuring compliance with privacy regulations
  • Guide Academic and Career Development: Support students in navigating academic pathways and goal-setting
  • Provide guidance on post-secondary education and career exploration opportunities
  • Collaborate with teachers and families to develop effective intervention strategies
  • Help students build resilience, self-advocacy, and decision-making skills
  • Champion School-Wide Wellness: Implement programs and workshops promoting positive mental health and conflict resolution
  • Lead bullying prevention initiatives and social-emotional learning programs
  • Collaborate with leadership to create safe, inclusive, and supportive school environments
  • Stay current with counseling best practices and mental health trends
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to address comprehensive student needs
