About The Position

Immaculate Conception School is a Pre-K through 8 Catholic School in the heart of Columbus, Ohio. Our mission is to educate children in the life of Jesus Christ, nurture academic excellence, and foster nobility of character. We are currently looking for a School Counselor for the 2026-27 academic year. The ideal candidate is Catholic, has enthusiasm for teaching the Catholic faith, and a love of literature and science. Candidates should possess the appropriate coursework, licensure to teach in the state of Ohio, or be eligible for licensure.

Requirements

• Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach
• Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks
• Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught
• Religious Education certification as required by the diocese

Responsibilities

• Assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum
• Helping students to grow in faith and responsibility
• Contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning.
• Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting the diversity of students.
• Understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning
• Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
• Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
• Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith.
• Assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.
