About The Position

The School Counselor (Case Managers) position at West Park Academy involves providing comprehensive developmental counseling support to elementary school students. The counselor will assist students in setting realistic goals, enhancing their self-image, and exploring academic and vocational opportunities. This role includes coordinating student assessments, implementing transition activities, and providing individual and group interventions to facilitate self-directed decision-making.

Requirements

• Master's degree in guidance and counseling from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of an approved program in guidance consisting of 48 semester hours of coursework.
• Valid Type 73 State of Illinois School Service Personnel Certificate with an Endorsement in Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement a comprehensive developmental school counseling program.
• Assist students in developing realistic goals and positive self-images.
• Coordinate and organize student assessment procedures, including citywide testing.
• Provide career awareness and education programs for students.
• Conduct individual and group interventions to address student attitudes and decision-making.
• Develop referral and resource services to connect students with school and community resources.
