About The Position

The School Café Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring that students and staff receive nutritious and timely meals in a clean and welcoming environment. This position is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining food items according to established health and safety standards. The attendant will interact with students and school personnel, providing friendly and efficient service that supports a positive dining experience. Additionally, the role involves managing inventory and assisting with the setup and breakdown of meal service stations. Ultimately, the School Café Attendant contributes to the overall well-being and satisfaction of the school community by promoting healthy eating habits and maintaining a safe cafeteria environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in a food service or cafeteria environment.
• Certification in food handling or food safety (e.g., ServSafe).
• Familiarity with dietary restrictions and allergen management.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers.
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with school nutrition guidelines and portion control standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, serving areas, and dining spaces following health and safety regulations.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies and inventory to ensure freshness and availability.
• Provide courteous and efficient customer service to students, staff, and visitors, addressing questions and dietary needs as appropriate.
• Support the setup and cleanup of meal service areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
