About The Position

The School-Based Services (SBS) Clinical Director is responsible for clinical leadership, oversight, and quality of all school-based behavioral health services. This role ensures that services delivered in school settings are trauma-informed, evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and fully compliant with federal, state, and agency requirements. This position oversees clinical programming, assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and outcomes or students receiving services in collaboration with school districts and community partners.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a clinical field, i.e., social work, counseling, or psychology, from an accredited college/university is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and insurability.
  • Must have excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Technical requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any other applications the organization or regulatory agencies uses.
  • Ability to understand and relate to the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation.
  • Independent Licensure or independent license eligibility is required.
  • Maintains 40 hours of Annual Training through Relias or other appropriate sources.
  • Maintains at least minimum training for licensure.
  • Attends all assigned training specific to job assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience in community-based programs is preferred.
  • Experience in addressing trauma and promoting the recovery of children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and adults with serious mental illness (SMI) is preferred.
  • Experience providing trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services in behavioral health or related settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight of all school-based behavioral health services.
  • Ensure compliance with CCBHC, Medicaid, Medicare, and Kentucky regulatory requirements, as well as grants and contracts.
  • Oversee assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, service delivery, and discharge planning in school settings.
  • Supervise and support clinical supervisors and school-based clinicians through regular supervision, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensure trauma-informed, evidence-based, and developmentally appropriate practices are implemented consistently.
  • Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Ensures all necessary records are maintained and kept confidential.
  • Provide direct clinical oversight of clients served by therapists under their supervision, including review of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and clinical decision-making to ensure high-quality, ethical, and effective care.
  • Participate in the OP Quality Workgroup for continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data related to access, utilization, outcomes, and satisfaction; implement improvement strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with school districts, administrators, and staff to coordinate services and address student needs.
  • Serve as primary clinical liaison with schools and community partners.
  • Support crisis response, safety planning, and coordination of emergency services in school settings as well as assisting with after-hours and weekends on-call schedule.
  • Oversee referrals, intakes, and service assignment in collaboration with referral management and supervisors.
  • Ensure staff are trained in CCBHC requirements, school-based policies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in grant, contract, and reporting requirements related to school-based services, if applicable.
  • Support workforce development, recruitment, and retention of school-based clinicians.
  • Participate in agency leadership, strategic planning, and policy development.
  • Promote culturally responsive, equitable, and family-centered care.
  • Ensures school MOU’s/MOA’s are established and updated annually with local school districts to allow RE to provide school-based services.
  • Schedule and facilitate Mental Health Meetings with local schools monthly, or at the discretion of the school.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate school-based programming and service models to address student and school-identified needs, including prevention, early intervention, crisis response, and ongoing therapeutic services.
  • Develop and distribute school-based service satisfaction surveys, interpret feedback to assess areas of improvement, and develop a plan with agency leadership to improve service array.
  • Promotes a positive view of RE to the public and outside agencies.
  • Provides individual, group, collateral, and family treatment, as appropriate, to clients based on clinical issues and treatment needs.
  • Maintains current therapy notes, treatment reports, and other written documentation and correspondence according to agency policy and within appropriate time frames.
  • Attends and participates in all therapist/clinical meetings and assists others in developing appropriate intervention techniques, case consultations, and providing clinical service updates.
  • Maintains current licensure and stays within ethical guidelines provided by your licensure board.
  • Participates in supervision and consultation regularly.
  • Collaborates effectively with other assigned RE services and community partners.
  • Assists in crisis intervention efforts to maintain the safety of clients and use crisis as an opportunity for growth.
  • Assists with the File Review process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
