About The Position

The School Based Mental Health Therapist will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of students within Baltimore City schools. This position involves providing direct therapeutic services to students, including individual and group therapy, to address various mental health issues. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Current licensure as a mental health professional (LMSW, LGPC, LCSW, LCSW-C, LCPC) in Maryland
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
  • Familiarity with school-based mental health services and educational systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with students and collaborating with school staff.
  • Therapeutic techniques and interventions will be utilized daily to address the diverse mental health needs of students.
  • Organizational skills are crucial for maintaining accurate records and managing multiple cases effectively.
  • Crisis management skills will be employed to respond to urgent situations with professionalism and care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health services to students enrolled in Baltimore City Public Schools’ General Education programs.
  • Adhere to the Performance Standards for Mental Health Professionals in City Schools.
  • Provide mental health consultations for school staff, including classroom observations of students at risk.
  • Conduct prevention group activities for students
  • Provide presentations on relevant mental health topics to school staff.
  • Support the school community for crisis intervention as needed.
  • Participate in the Evidence-Based Assessment (EBA) Initiative.
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with the BHSB contracting agreement.
  • Attend monthly Expanded School Behavioral Health Program (ESBH) Meetings
