About The Position

The School Based Mental Health Therapist will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of students within Baltimore City schools. This position involves providing direct therapeutic services to students, including individual and group therapy, to address various mental health issues. The therapist will collaborate with educators, parents, and other mental health professionals to create a supportive environment conducive to student success. Additionally, the role includes developing and implementing intervention strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student. Ultimately, the therapist's goal is to foster resilience and promote positive mental health outcomes among the student population.

Requirements

Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
Current licensure as a mental health professional (LMSW, LGPC, LCSW, LCSW-C, LCPC) in Maryland
Experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
Familiarity with school-based mental health services and educational systems.
Experience in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with students and collaborating with school staff.
Therapeutic techniques and interventions will be utilized daily to address the diverse mental health needs of students.
Organizational skills are crucial for maintaining accurate records and managing multiple cases effectively.
Crisis management skills will be employed to respond to urgent situations with professionalism and care.

Responsibilities

Provide behavioral health services to students enrolled in Baltimore City Public Schools’ General Education programs.
Adhere to the Performance Standards for Mental Health Professionals in City Schools.
Provide mental health consultations for school staff, including classroom observations of students at risk.
Conduct prevention group activities for students
Provide presentations on relevant mental health topics to school staff.
Support the school community for crisis intervention as needed.
Participate in the Evidence-Based Assessment (EBA) Initiative.
Maintain clinical records in accordance with the BHSB contracting agreement.
Attend monthly Expanded School Behavioral Health Program (ESBH) Meetings
