About The Position

The Clinician in the School Based Mental Health Program is responsible for providing high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapeutic services to children and their families. The clinician will deliver individual, group, and family therapy within a clinical setting, maintain all required documentation in compliance with OMH and agency standards, and collaborate with internal teams, schools, and external partners to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or equivalent in the state of New York required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a mental health setting, preferably with children and adolescents required.
  • Experience working within a school-based environment or educational setting required.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Capacity to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Clinicians are responsible for meeting monthly productivity goals and completing their notes in accordance with agency policy.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents.
  • Develop, implement, and update treatment plans based on client needs and in alignment with OMH regulations.
  • Provide ongoing individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of clinical services in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Engage parents and caregivers in the treatment process through regular communication and psychoeducation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, supervision, team meetings, and professional development trainings.
  • Coordinate care with school staff, external providers, case managers, and referral sources.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Support interns and junior staff as needed under supervision guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to all clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
