About The Position

Focusing on Whole-Person Healthcare Meridian Health Services is a progressive healthcare organization that believes in treating the whole person integrating physical, mental and social well-being to help people achieve their optimum health. We are currently seeking a full time School Based Medical Assistant to perform a variety of patient care activities to provide clinical and administrative support and assistance in a school-based clinic. This position will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. The Medical Assistant will be a member of a medical care team in accordance with NCQA - Patient Centered Medical Home standards and will be required to travel as necessary for training and coverage at other locations. This is a full time position working Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Prefer six months to a year of work experience, preferably in clinic setting
  • Valid drivers license, a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with flow through the clinic and escorts patients to exam rooms.
  • Takes vital signs and prepares patients for assessment
  • Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in all exam areas.
  • Sterilizes instruments as assigned.
  • Screens telephone calls for referrals.
  • Ensures that pertinent information and most recent test results are in patient records.
  • Assist providers with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed.
  • Remains in exam room with provider during patient exams as requested or assigned.
  • Follows infection control guidelines and ensures adherence to OSHA and CLIA protocols due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Performs daily controls on equipment and maintains records/logs in accordance with regulations and protocol.
  • Prepares medications
  • Maintains CPR certification and licensure requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Completes weekly task assignment
  • Accurately triage walk in patients and call-ins.
  • Stock supplies in medical rooms prior to all shifts.
  • Check expiration dates on all pharmacy and other stored products.
  • Adheres to scheduling assignments
  • Attends required meetings, and in-services, and participates in committees as requested.
  • Performs other duties and activities, as per credentialed and proven skill level or incidental to the work and responsibilities of this position.
  • Use additional forms of telehealth to assist provider.
  • Provide health screening (PHQ9, Edinburgh Scale, and GAD 7) as needed to direct patients to needed medical care
  • Complete Daily Operations Reports as requested by the Practice Manager
  • Log and transmit temperature data as required for vaccine and medication storage
  • May provide Vaccines For Children (VFC) program coordination and oversight
  • Maintain cash box, audit and bank deposits
