The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) performs intake assessments and comprehensive evaluations, develops treatment plans, and provides psychotherapy. Psychotherapy may include individual, family, couple and group psychotherapy per department needs. (SBHC/Dept of Health regulations)

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, required
  • Minimum of 6 years of post Master's in Social Work experience, under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or other recognized professional is required
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) with the "R" credential by the New York State Department of Education is required

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychotherapy on an outpatient basis to individuals, and groups in accordance with Office of Mental Health accepted standards of care and department procedures
  • Completes intake assessments and comprehensive assessments, including diagnostic formulations and preliminary treatment goals, objectives, and methods, within 30 days of referral, as per New York State Office of Mental Health rules and regulations
  • Provides therapeutic interventions, including individual, and group therapy, and parent counseling and/or family sessions for persons enrolled in the SBHC and referred for mental health counseling
  • Documents all 100% of patient contacts according to New York State Office of Mental Health rules and regulations and in accordance with hospital policies and practices
  • Performs outpatient emergency or urgent evaluations as needed, and facilitates urgent care including hospitalization, as needed
  • Functions as a member of the outpatient SBHC clinical treatment team
  • Facilitates referrals for medication evaluations, inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations, and community support services as required
  • Maintains ongoing patient records, documents therapeutic interventions and progress in achieving treatment goals
  • Communicates clearly with patient, families as applicable and other treating providers for coordination of treatment goals and objectives.
  • Treats patients, colleagues, and other staff with cooperation, compassion, and respect
  • Conducts self in a manner consistent with ethical standards of practice in this field
  • Attends supervision deemed by licensure on a regular basis
  • Functions in accordance with department standards for billing of services
  • Provides coder/analyst with timely, accurate, and adequate billing information following each patient appointment, including correct diagnostic and CPT codes.
  • Provides qualified third-party payors with timely and accurate clinical information, in accordance with all New York State and Federal confidentiality guidelines, to ensure ongoing authorization and payment for care
  • Maintains New York State licensure/certification
  • Maintains the integrity of the patient's confidentiality throughout the course of treatment
  • Abides by all current requirements of patient confidentiality
  • Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed
