Position Summary To assist the School Director in the operations of the before and after care program, so that values are upheld, and the children are provided with a safe and learning environment. To provide support and direction to the teacher assistant.

Requirements

  • Clean MVR Required
  • AA or bachelor’s degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies, or a similar discipline, OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care
  • 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, and an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
  • 400 hours of experience working with school-age children in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents, and visitors.
  • Implements activities that are age-appropriate and stimulating by the provided JMS - Celebree School curriculum; manages effective classroom management.
  • Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns promptly, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with the team, parents, and the school community.
  • Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment are appropriately maintained.
  • Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the other team members to resolve them.
  • Maintains yearly certification requirements, including Continuing Education Credits.
  • Transportation for children's pick-up and drop-offs may be needed.
  • Medication Administration certification may be needed.
