About The Position

The Scheduling Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring effective production planning and scheduling for the organization. They are responsible for developing and maintaining the master production schedule, coordinating with various departments to optimize production efficiency, and managing inventory levels to meet customer demand. The Master Scheduler closely collaborates with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure the timely delivery of products while minimizing costs and maximizing resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience as a master scheduler, production planner, or similar role in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using advanced planning and scheduling software tools. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex information clearly
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in production planning and scheduling
  • Physical Demand.
  • 25% of time spent on the plant floor.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule (MPS) based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and production capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer service departments to gather demand forecasts and customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information.
  • Coordinate with production managers to determine production capacity and availability of resources, considering factors such as labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Create detailed production schedules and prioritize production orders based on customer requirements, inventory levels, and production constraints.
  • Monitor and analyze production performance against the schedule, identifying deviations, bottlenecks, and potential risks. Take proactive measures to address issues and adjust the schedule as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of raw materials, components, and supplies to support production schedules.
  • Optimize inventory levels by balancing customer demand, production capacity, and lead times. Minimize excess inventory while ensuring sufficient stock to meet customer orders, including managing aged inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager on the disposition of non-conforming materials and create rework orders promptly.
  • Communicate production schedules, changes, and updates to relevant stakeholders, including production teams, procurement, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team to coordinate product shipments and ensure on-time delivery to customers, considering transportation lead times and logistics constraints.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning and scheduling, such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, and inventory turnover. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
