The Scheduling and Registration Coordinator is a full-time position at Grand Valley Oncology. This role is responsible for preparing the pre-registration work area daily, which includes printing schedules, verifying appointments, contacting insurance companies for benefit verification and pre-certification, and documenting financial data. The coordinator also prepares for patient admissions by contacting relevant parties if pre-authorization is denied, calculating estimated patient charges, attempting to collect payments, and referring patients to financial counselors when necessary. Key duties involve admitting patients efficiently, monitoring patient needs via QCLs, interpreting medical records for accurate coding to obtain prior authorizations for various tests and treatments (including genetic testing, lab tests, pathology, clinical trials, and radiation oncology), and communicating with providers and staff to secure authorization data. The role also entails documenting authorization numbers in Mosaiq and Meditech, educating patients on insurance coverage, providing feedback to oncology teams regarding denials and service barriers, and scanning signed forms into patient charts and databases. This position requires interaction with multiple teams, including oncology, radiology, billing, and scheduling.
