This full-time position as a Scheduling and Registration Coordinator at Grand Valley Oncology involves a wide range of administrative and patient-facing responsibilities. Key duties include preparing the pre-registration work area, managing daily schedules, and verifying add-on appointments. The coordinator is responsible for contacting insurance companies to verify benefits, pre-certify procedures, surgeries, and inpatient stays, and documenting financial data in the Meditech system. They also calculate estimated patient charges based on insurance details and attempt to collect payments prior to visits, referring patients to financial counselors if necessary. The role requires preparing for patient admissions, contacting relevant parties if pre-authorization is denied, and maintaining a high efficiency rate in admitting patients while accurately obtaining demographic and financial data. A significant part of the role involves interpreting medical records to obtain prior authorizations for various tests and treatments, communicating with providers and staff for correct authorization data, and documenting authorization numbers in Mosaiq and Meditech. The coordinator will also educate patients on their insurance coverage and benefits, obtain necessary signatures, and provide feedback to oncology teams regarding denials and service barriers. Additionally, the position includes scanning signed commercial waivers and ABN forms into patient charts and databases, and interacting with multiple teams such as oncology, radiology, billing, and scheduling.
