About The Position

The Scheduling Coordinator for Perioperative Support Services is responsible for the timely and accurate scheduling of surgical procedures across multiple departments within the business unit. This role plays a critical part in supporting perioperative operations by ensuring that all cases are entered accurately and efficiently, maintaining a high level of communication and professionalism with internal and external stakeholders. The Scheduling Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between providers, patients, and departmental staff to facilitate smooth case scheduling, optimize workflow, and support exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of hospital scheduling experience, preferably in a perioperative or operating room environment
  • Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records or similar healthcare scheduling software
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to surgical procedures
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle a high-volume workload with accuracy and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
  • Familiarity with insurance requirements and procedure codes for surgical cases
  • Prior experience working directly with perioperative or surgical services teams

Responsibilities

  • Accurately schedules surgical procedures for multiple departments within Perioperative Support Services, ensuring all necessary details and requirements are captured
  • Enters cases in the scheduling system promptly and accurately to ensure seamless coordination of surgical services
  • Communicates with physicians, office staff, patients, and other departments with professional etiquette through phone, email, and in-person interactions
  • Obtains and verifies all pertinent information required for scheduling, including procedure details, insurance eligibility, and special instructions
  • Follows up timely with providers, clinical staff, and patients to resolve scheduling conflicts, missing information, or other issues
  • Demonstrates attention to detail to avoid scheduling errors that could impact patient care or surgical workflow
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental policies, medical terminology, and procedure coding to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborates effectively with perioperative leadership, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support the overall efficiency of the surgical schedule
