Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com Position Description: The position is responsible for performing duties required to schedule and pre-register patients for procedures and surgical cases/services; prints schedules for departments as needed; gathers and reports statistical data as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Medical Terminology (Advanced) certificate required or demonstrates successful completion of an accredited course
  • Phone etiquette
  • Familiar with ancillary departments scheduling requirements.
  • Previous experience in a customer service setting, preferably medical related.

Responsibilities

  • Capable of using manuals to locate appropriate CPT codes.
  • Displays excellent customer service skills while interacting with customers via phone, e-mail, correspondence or in person.
  • Has an advanced understanding of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of Insurance processing requirements i.e.; (verification, authorization, terms, requirements and regulations).
  • Familiar with all current computer applications used in the Customer Access department such as but not limited to the following: Cerner Scheduling, SMS, HDX, Search America, Document Imaging, Internet, Medical Necessity screening.
  • Able to read and interpret physician orders in accordance with requirements established for clean claim processing. i.e.; V-codes, Inpatient only procedures, non-covered, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
