The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate all imaging procedures. Responsible for scheduling imaging procedures, coordinating and communicating about patients with specialized procedures. Responsible for checking procedure diagnosis to meet medical necessity. Sends and tracks Mammography letters to patients. Faxes and tracks all positive mammography results. Maintains office policies and procedures. In charge of Department Meeting minutes.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service through greeting patients, answering phones and making patient appointments.
  • Answers phones in a timely and polite manner, transfers calls appropriately, relays messages. Attempts to resolve patient questions and requests before referring them to other staff members.
  • Prepares the medical chart for each patient by identifying and utilizing the appropriate forms and recording information.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected. Releases information in accordance with established policies.
  • Does not have unauthorized overtime, arrives on time, leaves on time and has few unscheduled absences. Respects diversity of each individual (patients, visitors, vendors, co-workers).
  • The Lead Radiology Secretary assists the professional radiology staff by providing variable duties to promote the smooth operation of the department; completes all required paperwork, places patient charts and records in the appropriate files; informs patients of exam times and keeps patients informed regarding delays and wait times; assists with images thru Novarad,and image CD processing; stocks and maintains supplies; may perform office/clerical functions; assist physicians in location and review of films/images and reports; performs other duties as assigned. Participates in CQI activities.
  • Performs L-lines and submission of procedure changes to appropriate departments.
  • Performs PACS procedures and assist with CD copying of images, knowledge of NovaScan application
  • Prepares black lung images according to policies and procedures.
  • Documents all minutes for the departmental meetings
  • Retrieves reports for physicians, offices, patient-care units, surgery, ER upon request Maintains knowledge of computer systems.
  • Manage and tracks in the Mammography MRS system. Does all follow up tracking for Mammography. Maintains office policies and procedures.
  • Insurance Verification.
  • Assist patients and physician clinics with price quotes and pre-authorizations for outpatient radiology procedures.
