About The Position

Your job is more than a job. The Scheduler is responsible for maintaining the appointment schedule of the physicians in an efficient manner. Schedules, reschedules, cancels and reminds patients of appointments. Provides accurate information, maintains open communication with hospital departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes. Schedules all surgical procedures into appropriate service line blocks. Your Everyday: Schedules Patient Appointments: Coordinates with physicians, nurses, schedules patient visits and appointments. Guides patients regarding basic queries regarding the appointments, assists with rescheduling and follow ups as necessary. Schedules Surgical Procedures: Schedules surgery procedures using the preferred EMR scheduling block system. Accurately gathers basic information relative to scheduled patients. Familiarizes with inventory supplies and surgical procedures. Communication and Customer Relation skills: Answers phone in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains constant and courteous telecommunications with surgeons, nurse coordinators and secretaries. Maintains and promotes good working relationships within the hospital and within the department. Escalates issues to appropriate supervisor. Administrative Duties: Completes daily surgical schedule and distributes as appropriate. Scans in surgery/PACU/SPD logs to appropriate file.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent AND 1 (one) year of experience in a physician’s office or surgery scheduling.
  • 3 years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.
