About The Position

The Gas SCADA Technician provides technical and operational support to Gas SCADA Engineers , who are responsible for maintaining and supporting the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used to monitor and control gas operations. This role assists in ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and timely technical support to operations teams. The position requires strict adherence to quality, compliance, and regulatory standards established by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Microsoft 365: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams for documentation and collaboration.
  • Power Platform: Experience with tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Apps for reporting and workflow automation.
  • SCADA Experience: Familiarity with SCADA systems, preferably Monarch SCADA, including data flow and operational processes.
  • CAD Experience: Ability to work with CAD tools for reviewing or updating system drawings and schematics.
  • IT Support Experience: Background in troubleshooting hardware/software issues, networking basics, and system connectivity.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's degree may be considered with a candidate with at least 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • First-Level Technical Support: Provide initial troubleshooting and resolution for SCADA-related issues, escalating as needed.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in a weekly rotation schedule (approximately one week per month) to provide after-hours support for SCADA systems.
  • PI Historian Outputs & Maintenance: Create and maintain outputs for the PI Historian system sourced from Monarch SCADA, including configuration updates, data validation, and support for project-related enhancements.
  • Database Maintenance: Perform maintenance and updates on SCADA databases and modem databases to support project work, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system changes, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and best practice white papers to support consistent operations and knowledge sharing.
  • Support SCADA Engineering Team & Project Documentation: Collaborate with the SCADA Engineering Team to implement system enhancements, troubleshoot complex issues, and assist with technical projects. Maintain records and documentation for SCADA engineers, including system configurations, test results, and implementation plans.
