About The Position

The Senior SCADA Engineer will play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of SCADA and plant control systems across IPX Power’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role supports the full lifecycle of SCADA systems, from development and engineering design through construction, commissioning, and operational handover. The position works closely with EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineers, internal engineering teams, and operations stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable control system architecture across the fleet. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with SCADA configuration, industrial networking, and power plant communication protocols, and enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced renewable energy environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in performance engineering, plant engineering, or utility-scale renewable operations.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV and/or BESS system performance and degradation drivers.
  • Working knowledge of Python and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to interpret electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Technical understanding of SCADA systems, monitoring platforms, DC and AC systems.
  • Experience analyzing equipment performance and identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Effective communicator with ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting assets in ISO markets (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and negotiation of SCADA specifications for EPC and major equipment contracts
  • Review engineering and design documentation for SCADA and control systems across renewable energy projects
  • Support telecom and network interconnection for renewable facilities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Witness factory and site acceptance testing to verify systems meet project specifications
  • Work with Owner’s Engineers and EPC contractors to ensure proper installation, commissioning, and operation of SCADA systems
  • Support implementation of SCADA cybersecurity and network best practices across the portfolio
  • Maintain consistent SCADA architecture and site network standards across projects
  • Coordinate with OT team to support network configuration workflows, including firewall rules and Access Control Lists (ACLs)
  • Troubleshoot control systems and communications, including PLC and SEL-RTAC behavior and network connectivity issues
  • Support development of commissioning plans and operational handover of projects to the Operations team
  • Coordinate integration with external platforms including BESS optimization systems, owner monitoring platforms, O&M providers, ISOs, and scheduling coordinators
  • Manage SCADA system onboarding, testing, and integration during construction and commissioning
  • Coordinate outage requests and testing activities with trading and scheduling teams
  • Support internal teams with technical requests including RFPs, new asset onboarding, ISO registrations, and reporting
  • Review and provide technical feedback on third-party SCADA system designs during the development phase
  • Assist Procurement and Operations teams with SCADA system specifications and integration strategies
