About The Position

Kimley-Horn's St. Petersburg, Florida (FL) office is seeking a SCADA Design Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Water/Wastewater and Utilities team. This role involves assisting in the design of various water and wastewater systems, including transmission and distribution, pumping stations, conveyance systems, water treatment, and treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions. Projects will focus on municipal water and wastewater utilities designs. Beyond technical work, the engineer will manage project tasks, design and permitting, construction coordination, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. A key aspect is maintaining high-quality plans and checking others' work, as well as monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules. The position offers on-the-job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interaction.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant electrical engineering design experience
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
• Relevant municipal engineering experience including designing pump stations, pipelines, water/wastewater treatment facilities
• Experience with designing electrical/instrumentation & controls for pump stations and treatment plants
• Experience using AutoCAD
• Communicating technical thoughts clearly and concisely
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Positive attitude, self-motivated; sense of urgency to produce high quality work
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the design of water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, water treatment systems, water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, and treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions
• Managing project tasks, project design and permitting, construction coordination, and coordinating work with other team members
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects
• Maintaining a high degree of quality sets of plans along with checking the work of others
• Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules
• Perform a variety of engineering tasks
