The SCADA Controls Engineer supports the installation, programming, integration, and commissioning of control systems used across electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This role works closely with engineers, electricians, and field teams to configure PLC logic, troubleshoot communication issues, validate system performance, and help deliver reliable SCADA, HMI, and monitoring solutions.   • Support end-to-end installation, checkout, and commissioning of controls hardware and software.
  • Configure PLC programs for HVAC and mechanical processes.
  • Install and configure HMIs, I/O modules, IPCs, and related components.
  • Diagnose issues involving PLCs, sensors, actuators, field devices, and communication networks.
  • Perform firmware flashing on IPCs, HMIs, PLCs, and controls components.
  • Work onsite with field teams to troubleshoot communication issues.
  • Conduct field testing using multimeters, signal generators, and similar tools.
  • Write, modify, and test PLC and control system logic.
  • Develop automation sequences and support logic design.
  • Create and maintain SQL databases used for system data collection.
  • Support estimating efforts by helping define scope requirements for controls upgrade projects.
  • Integrate PLCs with SCADA, HMI, and monitoring platforms.
  • Confirm proper communication between controls devices and supervisory systems.
  • Validate network paths and device connectivity during commissioning.
  • Maintain clear documentation for programming changes, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Capture field notes and update system records.
  • Recommend improvements based on system performance.
  • Work closely with engineering, electrical, mechanical, and maintenance teams.
  • Provide technical support to customers during installation and commissioning.
  • Support project execution needs based on business demand.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Information Science, or related field; OR 1–3 years of engineering, technical, military, or construction experience.
  • Experience with scripting/programming languages (C++, Java, Python, Expression Language).
  • Ability to create and maintain SQL databases.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability, including debugging code and validating system behavior.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work onsite with hand tools, test equipment, and basic installation tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support several tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  • Field service experience with industrial instrumentation or point-to-point controls validation.
  • Experience with any of the following platforms: Rockwell FactoryTalk, Tridium, Schneider Electric (PowerLogic / StruxureWare), Siemens Apogee, Inductive Automation Ignition, Eaton Networks, Field Servers, JACE controllers, Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet, Niagara, IEC 61850, DDC programming, OPC UA, SNMP.
  • Experience programming Niagara or Ignition systems.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with controls communication devices.
  • Experience building or modifying PLC logic, HMI graphics, and SCADA dashboards.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical schematics, control diagrams, and MOPs.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, contactors, relays, drives, and controls hardware.
  • Experience in mission-critical environments is helpful.
