About The Position

The Building Student Manager, under the supervision of the SC Facility & Event Services Supervisor, is the primary individual that is responsible for the managing of events and overall set-up and break-down of events located in the Student Center, Event Center, Quad, and patio areas. Other primary duties of the Building Student Manager include ensuring the access and security of the building, facilities, students and guests and enforcing SC policies and procedures as well as maintaining day to day operations of the building. Adheres to a schedule that sometimes requires early and late hours and weekends.

  • Currently enrolled, matriculating CSU Stanislaus student with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Work an average of 10-15 flexible hours per week
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical requirements and working conditions include; but are not limited to, frequently standing and walking; normal manual dexterity (hands and fingers) and eye-hand coordination; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; and use of cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the set-up and breakdown of events and programs that require the use of SC equipment including tables, chairs, canopies, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Wipe down/disinfect tables and chairs, empty trash, and vacuum floors (as needed) between meetings/events with approved cleaning supplies.
  • Serve in lead role managing events on weekends and outside normal operating hours as needed
  • Providing customer service through the supervision of all logistics of events including building security, crowd control, and noise levels while communicating with SC Facility & Event Services Supervisor and University Police Department (UPD) as needed.
  • Report issues regarding facilities, equipment, and grounds to the SC Facility & Event Services Coordinator and daily report.
  • Monitor 25Live daily schedule and manage the usage of all conference rooms, events, and outdoor space.
  • Conduct frequent rounds throughout the building to ensure the facility is in functioning order and track the number of people in public spaces.
  • Responsible for securing keys and keycards for access to all SC facilities.
  • Generate written, detailed reports of all activities occurring during shifts, including unusual situations and circumstances.
  • Complete opening/closing procedures as assigned including turning on/off all electronic devices (i.e. televisions, emergency radios, etc.) and lights, opening/closing patio furniture, and ensuring all entrances into the building are locked and secured during the closing shift.
  • Interpret and enforce the SC Facility Use Policy and SC Reservations Policy.
  • Responds appropriately to a variety of non-emergency and/or emergency situations including but not limited to medical emergencies, fire, civil disturbances, and acts of nature.
  • Report all employee accidents or injuries on the job.
  • Keep all SC equipment and storage areas organized.
  • Provide backup support to the Service Desk as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
