About The Position

The SC AV Student Technician, under the supervision of the University Student Center AV & Event Support Coordinator, will perform general AV support for University Student Center. Assists in the set-up, operation, troubleshooting, and cleanup of audio visual equipment including portable sounds systems, sound and lighting, video production, draperies, tables and chairs, and all other technical aspects for events as directed. Assists in the implementation of an on-going effective preventative maintenance plan for all audio visual and event equipment. Operates audio visual equipment for events and programs in SC facilities as directed. Troubleshoot issues as needed to ensure smooth operation and the completion of successful events. Assists with the set-up and break-down of furniture and other equipment for events an programs as needed. Follows all security and safety regulations involving all audio visual and event equipment. Assists in insuring proper inventory and availability of equipment and supplies, and safe, organized, and secure storage of equipment. Assist and/or troubleshoot with conference room technology. Conduct routine preventive maintenance as well as general repair and replacement or all audio visual equipment. Demonstrate a commitment and dedication to customers, products and company. Work with other members of the company to understand user issues and develop solutions. Provide friendly end-user audio visual support when required. Attend scheduled staff meetings. Attend leadership retreats, training orientations, workshops, etc.

Requirements

  • Customer Service experience, preferably in a technical environment is desired.
  • Knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, punctuality, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to quickly learn and adapt to a constantly changing technological world.
  • Technology skills in up-to-date computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, image processing, and basic programming preferred.
  • Ability to problem-solve technical difficulties, audio visual and software.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs, including changing lightbulbs/lamps, etc.
  • Possess good decision-making skills and be able to maintain high quality standards with basic supervision.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Provides professional and courteous support to CSU students, faculty, and staff requesting assistance.
  • Currently enrolled, matriculating CSU Stanislaus student with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Work 10 hours per week that may include nights and weekends.
  • Physical requirements and working conditions include, but are not limited to, sitting for extended periods; frequently standing and walking; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment, including computer, telephone, copiers.
  • This position requires availability every Sunday, as well as occasional Saturdays and evenings based on business needs.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the campus areas during student programs, continuous contact with other staff, students, faculty, and the public.
