About The Position

The SBA Loan Specialist is housed within Celtic Bank’s Special Assets Division and serves the Small Business Administration commercial loan portfolio. The role is primarily responsible for preparing Guaranty repurchase requests consistent with Small Business Administration procedures for requesting and honoring the SBA’s loan Guaranty program. This position requires effective communication with internal Bank teams to prepare, analyze, and successfully recover a Guaranty from the SBA on defaulted loans. Documentation gathering and analysis is a major function of the role, and the ideal candidate must have strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Requirements

  • Previous SBA and/or lending experience preferred.
  • Four-year or undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
  • Detail oriented and possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and support various activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong technical skills - including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite, web-based applications, and SharePoint/OneDrive.
  • Adaptability to meet changing department priorities while remaining attentive to daily demands.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new processes, and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, review, and analyze loan documentation necessary for SBA packages.
  • Prepare SBA packages including: Universal Purchase Package Care and Preservation of Collateral Tabs Charge off Tabs Liquidation Deadline requests
  • Prepare Wrap Up reports, memos, and justifications for certain loan actions.
  • Review completed SBA packages by other team members for quality control.
  • Prepare responses to SBA questions related to submitted requests.
  • Correspond and work with third party resources to gather effective data, such as attorneys, appraisers, and site inspectors.
  • Other Small Business Administration related tasks, as assigned.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned, including, but not limited to: Mail processing and distribution. Form 172 completion and remission of post-default recovery payments. Bankruptcy correspondence and related tasks. Liquidation activity Vendor payment processing. Monthly/Quarterly report generation and presentation.
