About The Position

The Saw Operator I is responsible for the setup and operation of a single-blade saw. This role involves reading production scheduling sheets and identifying the necessary materials for the operation. Key duties include ensuring materials meet quality specifications (grade, size, moisture content), performing setups according to specifications, and feeding materials. The operator is also tasked with periodically checking equipment to ensure specifications are met, offloading and stacking materials, and potentially covering, labeling, and banding finished products. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area is crucial, as is completing pre-shift equipment inspection checklists and reporting any issues. The position requires maintaining production records, checking materials and finished products for compliance, and adhering to established safety and quality procedures. Additionally, the Saw Operator I performs LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) as required, conducts preventive maintenance, and participates in safety, Continuous Improvement (CI), and other company programs and meetings. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma GED is preferred but not required
  • Some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operation of a single-blade saw
  • Read production scheduling sheets and identify required material for the operation
  • Ensure material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
  • Perform setups according to specifications
  • Feed material according to specifications
  • Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are being met
  • Offload and stack material in accordance with established procedures
  • If required, may cover, label and band components finished product
  • Ensure work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate
  • Complete pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and report any problems or concerns
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Maintain production records as required
  • Check materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards
  • Perform duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards
  • Perform LOTO as required
  • Perform preventive maintenance as specified
  • Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
