About The Position

The Sanitation Team Member is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food manufacturing equipment, processing areas, and facility spaces to ensure compliance with company standards, food safety regulations, and all applicable FDA and/or USDA requirements. This role is critical to maintaining food safety, product quality, and a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and noisy environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sanitation or food manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, floors, walls, drains, and facility areas according to Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble equipment as required.
  • Apply approved chemicals and sanitizers following correct concentrations and safety guidelines.
  • Perform pre-operational and post-sanitation inspections.
  • Document completed sanitation activities and chemical usage.
  • Identify and report sanitation, equipment, or facility issues.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety rules, and company policies.
  • Assist with pest prevention, allergen controls, and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Support audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Follow FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices (21 CFR Part 117).
  • Understand and support Food Safety Plans and Preventive Controls.
  • Maintain hygienic practices, including handwashing and proper PPE use.
  • Follow allergen cleaning and verification procedures.
  • Support environmental monitoring and verification swabbing.
  • Accurately complete sanitation and verification records.
  • Follow USDA-FSIS sanitation performance standards (9 CFR 416).
  • Execute Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Perform pre-operational and operational sanitation tasks.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions to prevent product contamination.
  • Document sanitation activities in compliance with USDA requirements.
  • Immediately report insanitary conditions to supervisor.
