About The Position

Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats, Inc., is widely known and honored by culinary experts and chefs for the superb quality and rich, smoky flavor of our Applewood smoked bacon, ham, poultry, sausage, and other premium quality specialty meats. We are also known as one of the premier employers in the Central Wisconsin. The Sanitation Team Member is responsible for disassembly, cleaning, reassembly and sanitizing of meat processing equipment. They will ensure proper industrial cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment, machines, and facilities per the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures to meet mandatory sanitation requirements. The sanitation worker must be able to work as a team to perform varying tasks per the supervisor's instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines as mandated by the company. This is a full time, 2nd shift position.

Responsibilities

  • Frequently lift/move sanitation hoses, equipment parts, and product containers weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Perform various cleaning and scrubbing tasks while standing, crouching, lying, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Perform various overhead cleaning and scrubbing tasks while working on a step ladder or in a scissors lift.
  • Complete all documentation, communication, and record-keeping requirements accurately, on time and in a professional manner.
  • Inspect sanitation work and follow up as appropriate to ensure that all operating and sanitation standards have been met to ensure a safe and effective on-time start of plant production and equipment.
  • Perform all tasks safely and in a manner that will not create or pose a direct threat to the health and/or safety of the self or any other person (i.e., Lock out tag out, Confined space cleaning, etc.)
  • Abide by Plant sanitation programs and ensure compliance with Company standards as stated in the QA and Sanitation Manuals and Company directives
  • Adhere to and assist in training and instructing employees regarding sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs and objectives
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Weekend work may be necessary on occasion to complete periodic equipment or infrastructure cleaning.
