To become the world’s greatest baker, we need the world’s greatest team members Summary The Sanitation Shift Leader oversees all sanitation activities during the night shift. Reporting to the Site Sanitation Leader, you will lead Sanitation Team Leaders and Team Members to ensure our facility, equipment, and production environment meet the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and compliance. This role requires a hands-on leader with 85% floor presence who leads by example, motivates teams, and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a “let’s get it done” attitude, embraces long hours, weekends, and rotating shifts, and consistently goes above and beyond to deliver results. Ensure all sanitation activities are carried out in compliance with SSOPs, GMPs, HACCP, FDA, OSHA, and BRC standards. Maintain a visible leadership presence (85% on the floor), directly engaging with teams to drive accountability and performance. Lead with a 'let’s get it done' mentality, fostering accountability, ownership, and high performance within sanitation teams. Conduct pre-shift huddles, ongoing feedback, and end-of-shift debriefs to align, motivate, and recognize performance. Partner with Quality Assurance to support visual pre-op inspections, ensuring production lines meet food safety and sanitation standards. Monitor and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation records with accuracy and attention to detail. Oversee and verify chemical usage, mixing, and application to ensure compliance with supplier specifications and safety standards. Drive a continuous improvement culture (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) by identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and increase cleaning effectiveness. Utilize data, KPIs, and CI tools (Power BI, Excel, dashboards, etc.) to track sanitation effectiveness and implement corrective actions. Participate in self-inspections, audits, and regulatory/customer inspections; ensure readiness at all times. Lead by example in safety practices, lockout/tagout, and proper equipment handling during sanitation processes. Collaborate with Site Sanitation Leader and Corporate Sanitation teams to share best practices and standardize excellence across shifts. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to build a high-performing, motivated team. Take ownership of results during the night shift, ensuring that all sanitation requirements are met within the required timelines. Perform other high-impact responsibilities as required to achieve company objectives.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing, with proven leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate sanitation teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset with knowledge of Lean, 5S, and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and other CI/digital tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence and drive accountability at all levels.
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail to identify and resolve sanitation or compliance issues.
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends (mandatory), and rotating shifts with flexibility.
  • Familiar with GMPs, HACCP, BRC, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Must be comfortable with hands-on work and floor leadership (85% presence on the floor).

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
