As the Sanitation Lead, you’ll take charge of coordinating and guiding the sanitation team to keep our bakery clean, safe, and audit ready. You’ll lead daily sanitation activities, drive strong sanitation programs, and ensure standards are consistently met across the operation. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of sanitation experience, preferably in a dessert or bakery manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation equipment teardown, setup, and parts cleanup.
  • Basic understanding of sanitation chemicals and safe handling procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP and people safety policies.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., including occasional use of a pallet jack.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including freezers (down to -10°F), coolers (40°F), oven areas (up to 99°F), and moderate to high noise environments with PPE provided.
  • Ability to work with sanitation chemicals using required PPE.
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks as assigned by Sanitation Management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Shift Managers, Department Supervisors, and Department Leads to ensure all sanitation activities are completed as planned.
  • Support supervisors by monitoring new hires and assisting with training, ensuring all team members are properly trained and certified in required procedures.
  • Direct and oversee sanitation team members in cleaning, sanitation, and pest control practices in accordance with daily and master sanitation plans.
  • Inspect products, equipment, and facilities for compliance with federal and state sanitation regulations and plant standards; address issues with management and production teams and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Ensure equipment, tools, and work areas are cleaned and maintained throughout the day, including prioritizing equipment cleaning in coordination with the baking area and ensuring continuous operation of the pan washing machine.
  • Verify staffing coverage, time clock compliance, task assignments, and coordination of team member meals and breaks.
  • Monitor plant conditions to ensure bathrooms, dining room, patio, and sanitation areas are clean and in acceptable condition; report maintenance issues promptly to ensure timely resolution.
  • Enforce safety protocols within the sanitation area and report safety incidents as required.
  • Communicate pertinent department and company performance information to team members.
  • Complete required inspections, documentation, reports, and all administrative duties assigned by Sanitation Management.
