About The Position

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for completing the cleaning and sanitizing of production machinery, process equipment, warehouse equipment and buildings in adherence to the strictest standards of food safety, health, safety and hygiene. The Certified Technical Trainer (CTT) serves as the technical trainer/mentor for continuous skills development in their department and reports to the department Supervisor.  The CTT will be certified by the plant CSD Specialist and be a member of the CSD Team.   They are responsible for ensuring consistent and sustainable application of skills building and maintenance processes including Classroom training, Validation Check-Sheet and OJT (on-the-job-training) which outlines the standards and expectations of performance.   They will also own various training materials as assigned by the CSD Specialist to periodically review, update and keep current.  CTT will schedule and coordinate use and availability of training materials, trainees and machinery while ensuring training expectations are met.  Areas of responsibility include teams and processes in their department and other plant areas as required.

  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow procedures written in English.

  • Demonstrate proficiency and experience as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in multiple areas of the plant.

  • Must be able to understand and communicate basic skills and knowledge of assigned topics.
  • Ability to delegate functions to trainees by giving directions.
  • Must be able to understand and demonstrate basic trainer skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels in the plant.
  • Willingness to learn, understand and tech new tasks.
  • Initiate and/or assist in continuous improvement and the plant training program.
  • Displays a positive attitude, has high energy and enthusiasm towards the new training program, leads by example.

  • Advance computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, specially PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan and execute technical projects assigned by CSD Specialist.
  • Understanding of food processing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with PPE, SOP’s and GMP Standards
  • Ensure continuity between shifts by documenting cleaning actions noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.
  • Shall stay overtime ONLY when lines are down due to the changeover or as directed by Sanitation Manager.
  • Shall stay after their shift to fill out Daily Sanitation Report and email it to co-leads and Management, if not able to complete within shift.
  • Must always work safely and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that all Environmental swabs are being done on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain chemical usage and cleaning logs.

  • Hold sanitation and production staff accountable.
  • Develop and train all steps of each plant clean-up.
  • Communicate efficiently with maintenance specialist and supervisors on all issues.
  • Ability to understand and work with automated equipment.
  • Ability to change out check valves as required without assistance from the maintenance department.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of cleaning systems.
  • Knowledge of Chemical Safety and working with caustic and acid cleaners.
  • Ability to mix chemicals to the exact dilution based on chemical providers guidelines.
  • Ability to read and understand all SDS’s.
  • Ability to read and comment all cleaning steps on the attribute sheets.
  • Knowledge of all cleaning tasks in Packaging.
  • Knowledge of all cleaning tasks in Processing.
  • Complete understanding of SSOP’s and Work Instructions
  • Complete understanding of the definition “Dry Clean”.
  • Complete understanding of the definition “Wet Clean”, “COP” and “CIP”
  • Complete understanding of the definition “Allergen Clean”.
  • Ability to train and evaluate new hires.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work and communicate efficiently with Supervisors or Leads to ensure on time start-ups.
  • Must provide support to everyone on the line and able to determine which areas need additional support and provide it based on sanitation needs and issues.
  • Must have strong attendance record.
  • Lift trash cans, bags, and debris more than 30lbs. repeatedly.
  • Ability to drive and operate a floor scrubber.
  • Ability to drive and operate scissor lift.
  • Ability to drive and operate a boom lift.
  • Ability to drive and operate forklift.
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision, be able to problem solve and comprehend methods of cleaning and safety within the facility.
  • Consider improving methods and suggest possible changes to procedures.
  • Notify Management of any suspicious personnel or incidents occurring that relate to plant security.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities related to Food Safety, Quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety systems.
  • Informs Line Supervisor, Lead, or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant.
  • Facilitate class-room training, and OJT with scheduled trainees.
  • Responsible for leading the way of the CSD process.
  • Complete and monitor successful trainings and shift communication in their department.
  • Review daily training schedules and distribute training materials and standards to the trainees.
  • Accountable for completing training on schedule per agreements made with CSD Specialist.
  • Check equipment availability through weekly production schedule.
  • Complete training paperwork including Validation Check-sheet and recaps in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Utilize time efficiently, identify and improve training materials as needed.
  • Abide by and lead by example to enforce the plant expectations of performing task as described in the training process and the training materials.
  • Communicate trainee progress with CSD Specialist, Leader and Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment.
  • Frequently check environment for safe operating conditions during the OJT process.
  • Promote teamwork and a constructive work environment.
