About The Position

Performs intermediate unskilled and semiskilled work operating and maintaining sanitation equipment, collecting debris and litter along assigned route, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Sanitation Operations Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in sanitation operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in performance of heavy manual work and in the operation of automotive equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures
• Thorough knowledge of industry standard and department specific equipment
• Ability to perform continuous heavy manual work at a rapid pace
• Ability to operate automotive equipment safely and effectively

• ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions
• ability to input data into a mobile data device
• ability to operate a motorized vehicle for long periods of time and in adverse weather conditions
• ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
• Valid Commercial driver's license with Class B endorsement (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Operates rear loader, side loader, or other refuse collection trucks and complete other tasks within the work group as needed.
• Completes pre and post route equipment safety checks.
• Reports violations of ordinances to citizens and supervisor.
• Cleans and maintains refuse truck and equipment.
