We are looking for an experienced Sandblaster/ Painter to add to our team in Channelview, TX Essential Functions of the job include (but are not limited to):

Requirements

  • Must be mechanically inclined and have forklift experience
  • Basic paint skills
  • Able to paint all surfaces, types and textures
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work
  • Knowledge of chemical safety rules
  • 1-3 years: Manufacturing Environment
  • Wear respirator, coveralls, and full body Tyvex suit
  • Must have the ability to lift 60 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepares surfaces to be painted.
  • Removes corrosion and other finishes by sanding, scraping and sweeping chassis, wheels, tanks, containers, frames and other industrial items as needed.
  • Uses high pressure abrasive-blasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Cleans equipment by standard practices.
  • Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
  • Loads parts or equipment in enclosed room or covered booth.
  • Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle.
  • Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden material over surface of parts.
  • Manually directs nozzle over surface of parts.
  • May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Paint containers, tanks, chassis, wheels, frames and other industrial items
  • Retrieve and mix materials according to formula, and may regulate temperature of coating
  • Ability to utilize an air compressed spray gun
  • Assist the diesel and chassis shops in maintaining cleanliness and order
  • Load, unload, lift, receive, stack store, move, transfer materials, and supplies
  • Help Shop Mechanics with obtaining needed parts and/or assemble and distribute supplies
  • Maintain and keep equipment in safe working order
  • Assist with a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed
