About The Position

We are currently taking resumes/applications for EXPERIENCED Blasters for the Houma , LA and surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following: Job Summary: Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper.

Requirements

5 Years Min Experience
Ability to set up and use blast pot and/or nozzle equipment
Attention to detail
Must be comfortable working at different heights
Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks
Driver's License/Identification Card
Social Security Card/Birth Certificate
Must have own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, gloves, & safety glasses.)
Must be able to pass drug screen & background check.
Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
Masks specified areas of objects not to be painted to protect from unwanted over-spray.
Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive material flowing through nozzle.
Operate equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasives over surface of parts.
Manually directs nozzle over area to be blasted.
Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms, into tumbling barrels, or into cabinets.
Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts
Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
May set up ventilators; exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding prior to blasting and/or painting
Blast and/or Paint in enclosed and open areas using proper protective clothing and equipment.
Washes surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale, and dirt, using soap and water, or with other solvents.
Cleans sand and debris from work area.
Cleans, maintains, and repairs all blasting and/or painting equipment.
May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
