This Sanctuary Dive Technician is the lead dive technician for the statewide Oyster Sanctuary Program. The primary purposes of this position are: 1) conduct monitoring and sampling activities on oyster sanctuaries, often in low visibility, while using SCUBA in adherence to approved sampling protocols and the DMF SCUBA Dive Safety Manual; 2) oversee the proper maintenance and servicing of SCUBA diving equipment; 3) assist with planning of dive operations, including field sampling and annual trainings; 4) assist with planning and construction of oyster reefs; and 5) data entry for accurate collection of biological data and record keeping of dive operations. Variable schedules including extended workdays, overnight stays & weekend work will sometimes be required. This is an intensive field position with extensive on the water time required. Ability to lift 75 lbs., operate & maintain vessels up to 50 feet in length. Operate & maintain tow vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders & dump trucks.
