The Sampling Specialist is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and optimizing all leaf and seed sampling activities across multiple research projects at the site. This role will ensure that sampling, processing, documentation, and shipment of regulated and nonregulated materials are conducted accurately, safely, and in compliance with internal, external, and regulatory requirements. The Specialist will lead and offers training to contractor workers (temporary) and regular personnel. In addition, they will manage daily workload based on priorities and drive continuous improvement initiatives to gain efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Science or related fields.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership and and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • The role demands excellent organization, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required; English proficiency is required.
  • Must be computer proficient, physically capable of lifting up to 25 lbs, and able to work independently.
  • The ability to drive and obtain a valid chauffeur’s license is required for this position.
  • Must be able to work weekends, second and third shifts, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multicultural and cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience within the seed industry is preferred, though not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all tissue sampling activities across projects, ensuring timely, accurate, compliant collection, processing, and shipment.
  • Lead, supervise and train both temporary and regular staff, adjust priorities based on operational needs, and plan daily workloads to optimize resources.
  • Ensure clear communication, proper documentation, and adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, logistics, and data records while promoting teamwork, effective communication, and continuous improvement across the research center.
