We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician II to join our laboratory team in Reading, PA. In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, processing, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab. Please note: This position follows a Monday – Friday schedule from 2 PM to 10:30 PM EST, with an initial training period schedule of 8 AM–4:30 PM EST prior to transitioning to second shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience in a professional laboratory and/or sample management environment
  • Prior professional experience in clerical, data entry, or administrative functions within a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other Windows-based software
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency matter every day
  • Sharp attention to detail with disciplined execution in structured, process-driven work
  • Proven ability to multitask, task-switch quickly, and manage competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or quality
  • Demonstrated personal organization and workflow control skills to stay efficient and on pace throughout the shift
  • Fast-learning mindset with the ability to quickly master new systems, documentation requirements, and workflow procedures
  • Strong problem-solving instincts with the ability to identify discrepancies, missing information, or documentation errors and take action in real time
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Clear, effective communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with team members

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming samples for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established acceptance criteria
  • Input sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Label, organize, and store samples to maintain proper chain of custody and compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards
  • Ensure all requirements of the Sample Acceptance Policy are met or appropriately documented
  • Prioritize and coordinate sample log-in activities to support analytical turnaround times and testing schedules
  • Monitor sample storage areas to ensure compliance, organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness
  • Prepare, package, and ship outbound samples, sample kits, and client returns in accordance with applicable procedures and shipping requirements
  • Assist with troubleshooting sample discrepancies and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
  • Provide backup support during periods of increased workload or staff absences
  • Perform other duties as assigned
