About The Position

The Sample Login Technician's primary responsibilities include receiving and sorting packages, prioritizing sample packages, verifying the accuracy of chains of custody, logging all samples into LIMS according to chain of custody and client specific requirements, and delivering samples to the sample custody room. The Sample Receiving Technician is also responsible for following all health and safety procedures and promoting a safe working environment throughout the department and the laboratory. Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort packages
  • Prioritize sample packages
  • Verify accuracy of chains of custody
  • Log all samples into LIMS according to chain of custody and client specific requirements
  • Deliver samples to the sample custody room
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment throughout the department and the laboratory
  • Route inbound packages to appropriate department
  • Sort packages, containing samples, according to turn around time, analytical and client priorities; compare samples received to the chain of custody, documenting any discrepancies
  • Track all packages and reusable, bar-coded media in LIMS, return all unused/returned media for reuse as applicable
  • Transfer samples between sample reception and sample custody room upon login completion
  • Mail reports and invoices per client request
  • Remove and dispose rejected samples and media according to SOP guidelines
  • Adhere to lab and sample management SOPs to ensure that the proper sampling, handling procedures are followed
  • Create unique login identification in LIMS for each sample submittal, enter sample records and generate labels using LIMS in accordance with chain of custody; apply labels to all samples
  • Log samples into LIMS by assigning the appropriate analytical test codes to each sample in accordance with the chain of custody
  • Communicate sample information to client services and lab operations to resolve issues and clarify any ambiguity on the COC
  • Review and complete all COC discrepancies/ client communication documentation in a timely manner
  • Package and ship samples for subcontracting
  • Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity
  • Provide exceptional customer service both internal and external clients
