About The Position

We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS), a trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy, and manage responsible, AI-powered applications and experiences with agility and ease. We’re proud to have a diverse, global team where we value the individual and enrich our culture by considering varied perspectives because we believe people power progress. Join us as an Enterprise Application Architect and help us do what we do best: propelling business forward. As an Enterprise Application Architect, you will lead the design and execution of a modern, decoupled architecture for our quote-to-cash ecosystem. Your mission is to enable the business to launch new products and SKUs rapidly—within days of requirements completion—by eliminating downstream system constraints. You will achieve this by leveraging, decoupling, and enhancing existing platforms and engineering capabilities across Enterprise Applications, Data & Analytics, and Business Applications teams, avoiding costly and time-consuming re-platforming efforts. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and a bias for iterative, high-impact delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or senior technical design roles within complex SaaS environments.
  • Proven track record designing modular, loosely coupled architectures that support rapid product and SKU iteration.
  • Deep experience with Salesforce, CPQ processes, and quote-to-cash ecosystems, including downstream integrations into licensing, billing, financial systems, and entitlement platforms.
  • Expertise in API-first, domain-driven, and event-driven architecture patterns
  • Demonstrated ability to transform rigid legacy environments into more flexible, scalable systems through incremental modernization, not just greenfield rebuilds.
  • Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams, including offshore development models.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps and integration approaches that enable independent deployment and domain separation.
  • Familiarity with SKU lifecycle management, especially in multi-channel environments (e.g., Direct, Ecom/Self-Service, Marketplace, 2-tier, Enterprise)
  • Exposure to M&A integration scenarios, with architectural strategies that support scalability and adaptability.
  • Systems thinker with a simplification mindset — sees the whole, but designs elegant, minimal solutions.
  • Influential communicator — able to challenge historical assumptions and shift mindsets without creating friction.
  • Calm authority in complexity — brings clarity, structure, and confidence to ambiguous or politically sensitive discussions.
  • Collaborative partner — works cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market leaders to align on outcomes.
  • Teacher and enabler — elevates others, distributes knowledge, and builds shared understanding across regions and teams.
  • Outcome-driven — anchors architectural decisions in measurable business results, not academic purity.
  • Resilient change leader — persistent, patient, and able to drive sustained progress through legacy constraints.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce certifications such as Application Architect, System Architect, or CPQ Specialist are highly desirable.
  • TOGAF certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep end-to-end understanding of our quote-to-cash architecture, spanning Salesforce CPQ, order management, licensing/provisioning, billing, entitlements, and downstream integrations.
  • Design and propose a modern, decoupled architectural blueprint that removes systemic constraints and enables rapid introduction of new SKUs and products upon requirements completion.
  • Define clear domain boundaries, integration contracts, and ownership models so individual components of the value stream can evolve independently.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Engineering, and Go-To-Market stakeholders to align architecture with business needs, quoting flexibility, and operational scale.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Salesforce Engineering and full-stack development teams to deliver incremental modernization, avoiding multi-year re-platforming efforts.
  • Drive architectural decisions that favor simplicity, modularity, and iterative value, rather than complex, over-engineered solutions.
  • Establish architecture governance, patterns, and design principles that accelerate— rather than hinder —delivery.
  • Ensure downstream systems (licensing, provisioning, billing, entitlements) are unblocked from CPQ-centric constraints and can evolve through well-designed APIs and event-driven integrations.
  • Increase organizational resilience by distributing knowledge, reducing single-threaded dependency on legacy subject-matter experts, and enabling global teams to execute independently.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life & disability, and financial benefits (including 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Tuition Reimbursement program.
  • Additional voluntary benefits including crucial illness/hospital indemnity, identity theft protection, auto & home insurance, legal, and pet insurance.
  • Competitive salary, bonus, and best-in-class Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) with a 27-month lookback
  • Flexible paid vacation time, paid day off for your birthday, and company holidays.
  • A variety of leave plans, including Parental Leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and an employee well-being program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.
