The Sales Trainee develops industry-specific knowledge and experience necessary for promotion to an Outside Sales Representative role. This position involves rotating through various departments to observe, learn, and perform responsibilities, acquiring industry knowledge, understanding functional processes and practices, and developing sales techniques. The trainee receives training and performs progressively responsible duties in areas such as yard operations, production, dispatch/scheduling/delivery, and inside sales, all while learning the outside sales function. The trainee will also accompany Outside Sales Representatives or Sales Managers on customer calls to become familiar with effective sales and customer service techniques. Responsibilities may include inside sales/counter duties like answering phones and taking orders, as well as various Outside Sales tasks such as performing take-offs, processing orders, obtaining signatures on tickets, and making sales calls to new and existing customers.
