About The Position

The Sales Trainee program is designed for motivated individuals looking to start or advance their career in sales within the agricultural and transportation industries. This structured training program provides hands-on experience in product knowledge, customer relationship management, territory development, and dealership sales support. The base pay salary is $50,000 + commissions. This position will require mandatory relocation to the first available open territory. Relocation expenses will be covered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Agriculture, Marketing, or related field) — or equivalent work experience.
  • Passion for sales, agriculture, and/or the transportation industry.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
  • Ability to travel regionally (up to 50%) for dealer visits, training, and events.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn Merritt’s full product line, features, and competitive advantages.
  • Assist Territory Sales Managers with dealer visits, trade shows, and customer outreach.
  • Participate in ride-alongs and plant tours to understand manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Support the sales process through CRM updates (Pipedrive), quote preparation, and lead follow-up.
  • Develop relationships with dealers, end-users, and industry partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer communications.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Creating and maintaining projects in CompanyCam.
  • A heavy emphasis on the overall management and sales of our used trailer inventory.
