This internship takes place in Farmington Hills, Michigan, the headquarters of Bosch North America, in the Ford Customer team of Power Solutions. We're looking for a visionary and hands-on Data Science Engineer to join our growing team. You'll play a role in architecting, developing, and deploying AI-driven tools and automated workflows that directly enhance the efficiency, intelligence, and strategic capabilities of our critical internal stakeholders. What You'll Do & The Impact You'll Make: Strategic AI Implementation: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of robust AI and machine learning solutions specifically tailored for our Sales, Project Management, and Innovation Engineering functions. For Sales: Imagine predictive lead scoring, automated proposal generation assistance, personalized sales enablement content, or smart customer churn prediction. For Project Managers: Think intelligent resource allocation, risk prediction, automated progress reporting, or optimized project scheduling. For Innovation Engineers: Envision AI-powered ideation tools, automated patent searches, market trend analysis, or rapid prototyping support. Problem Solver & Innovator: Work closely with stakeholders to deeply understand their challenges, identify high-impact opportunities for automation and AI, and translate complex business problems into viable technical solutions. Full Lifecycle Ownership: From data acquisition and feature engineering to model training, deployment (MLOps), monitoring, and continuous improvement – you'll own the entire lifecycle of your solutions. Architect & Build: Design and implement scalable, resilient, and performant data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure. Thought Leadership & Collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert in data science and AI, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Technology Explorer: Stay ahead of the curve on emerging AI/ML technologies and evaluate their potential application within our business.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering, with a strong portfolio of deployed solutions.
  • Deep expertise in:
  • Programming languages: Python (essential), SQL.
  • ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost, etc.
  • Data manipulation and analysis libraries: Pandas, NumPy.
  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP (experience with MLOps tools/services on one of these is highly desirable).
  • Proven ability to build and deploy robust, production-grade machine learning systems.
  • Strong understanding of various ML algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, NLP, time series) and when to apply them effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset: You're not just executing tasks; you're finding the best solutions to real-world business problems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or Business Administration with at least one semester completed
  • 1+ year academic or industry experience with software languages and operating systems.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must work 30-40 hours per week

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive-related hobby and/or experience working with engines or vehicles.
  • Experience with specific domains relevant to Sales (CRM data), Project Management (Jira/Asana APIs), or Innovation (IP data, market research APIs).
  • Prior experience in a consulting or product development environment where you delivered solutions to diverse internal or external customers.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Streamlit) to convey insights effectively.
