Job SummaryThe Sales Operations Consultant is responsible for shaping and overseeing the operational and strategic needs of defined sales channels and customers, serving as a key partner to internal leadership and external stakeholders. This role requires independent judgment in interpreting customer and market requirements, driving program and product launch execution, and ensuring operational alignment with broader business objectives. Acting as the central decision-maker for customer program execution, this role ensures that service standards are achieved, growth strategies are supported, and business profitability is optimized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales operations, program management, or business operations with national or strategic customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment on operational and financial matters of significance.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, communication, and strategic influencing skills.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in sales operations, program management, or business operations with national or strategic customers

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Program Leadership: Lead cross-functional meetings and make independent decisions that impact program launches, promotions, and account initiatives. Serve as the primary advisor and subject matter expert on account-level strategies, ensuring that customer and business requirements are aligned. Shape sales support policies and procedures that improve execution efficiency and business outcomes.
  • Product & SKU Lifecycle Strategy: Oversee SKU management and product lifecycle transitions, exercising discretion to prioritize resource allocation and phase-in/phase-out strategies that affect business performance. Partner with Sales and Demand Planning leadership to recommend and implement process improvements that optimize inventory health and profitability. Act as decision-maker on customer account setups, system design, and alignment of performance metrics with organizational goals.
  • Data-Driven Business Insights & Decision-Making: Analyze POS, sales, and customer data to identify macro-level trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate them into actionable strategies for Sales, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning teams. Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on operational efficiency, customer insights, and market dynamics. Serve as an advisor on data interpretation, influencing future business planning and resourcing decisions.
  • Financial & Operational Governance: Lead financial reconciliations with authority to resolve disputes, deductions, and penalties, collaborating with Accounts Receivable and Customer Resolution teams. Make recommendations on financial and operational policy adjustments that reduce risk and protect profitability. Provide oversight of compliance with internal financial standards.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a consultative partner to senior stakeholders, influencing customer engagement models and operational support strategies. Represent Sales Support in leadership discussions, ensuring alignment of customer programs with Acuity Brands’ growth strategy. Recommend long-term improvements in customer experience processes and tools.
